I graduated from The University of Michigan with honors and earned my law degree at the University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law, which I attended while I was on the air doing the night show at 96.3 WHYT in Detroit. While I was attending law school during the day and on the air at night, I started a show that featured live local rappers and live club DJ’s. Out of this show, the likes of Eminem, Claude Young, Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin and Kevin Saunderson were discovered. It was from this show that Eminem connected with Mark and Jeff Bass who recorded and produced him.

I pursued my law degree with the objective and desire to specialize in entertainment law. After experiencing first-hand the intricate and unique aspects of this business I wanted to bring my experience and intimate knowledge of the industry to help, promote and protect new talent as well as advance the careers of established talent in all areas of the entertainment industry.

I can offer you representation and counseling no other attorney or law firm can offer you – knowing the industry first-hand, from the inside out. My firm offers an attractive alternative to behemoth law firms and consolidated partnerships because my clients enjoy direct contact to the attorney handling your matter.

I specialize in the niche area of law that surrounds all issues in the entertainment industry and I represent clients in these areas across the United States. I have been at “ground-zero” for all of the Detroit bred music revolutions of the last 20 years, from discovering hip-hop greats to techno legends.

I have been consulted and retained as an expert in numerous areas of entertainment law including; radio contracts and ratings interpretation, how to get radio airplay if you are a recording artist as well as standards and practices of the promotion and nightclub industry.

I have appeared on and been interviewed as an expert in numerous films, documentaries and videos produced domestically and around the world regarding my first hand experiences in discovering artists and my role in the music revolution that erupted in Detroit.

In addition to my entertainment law specialty, my practice also includes civil litigation, landlord-tenant issues and areas of probate, including guardianships, conservatorships, wills and trusts. I have also assisted and counseled clients in the formation and set-up of their small businesses including record labels.

I am an advocate of Alternative Dispute Resolution (over litigation) and am a certified Case Evaluator and SCAO Certified Mediator. I have acted as a mediator for domestic issues such as child support/custody/parenting time/property division etc., and general civil matters such as contract disputes as well.
